Solving Residential and Commercial Water Problems on Long Island since 1974

About Us

Mermaid Water Solutions, a little history...

In 1974, William Gremler and Cliff Saunders founded the GNS Contracting Corp. in order to provide solutions for the growing number of water issues arising on the North Fork.

By the mid-nineties, GNS had expanded its service area to most of Suffolk and parts of Nassau County. In 1996, John Scaramucci purchased the growing company, and rebranded as GNS/Mermaid Water Systems.

Mermaid continued to increase its coverage of Suffolk and Nassau, and expanded even further to Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. During this time of expansion, John’s wife, Cissy, joined the company to handle the growing volume.

Mermaid Water Solutions, today...

In the Fall of 2020, Gregory Nissen and Amanda Clark acquired GNS/Mermaid Water Systems and Harry Goldman Water Testing, creating two new companies Mermaid Water Solutions and Goldman Water Testing.

Clark, a native of Shelter Island, is a two time Olympic Sailor and All-American College Athlete. Nissen, formerly Director of Quinipet Camp & Retreat Center for over a decade as well as a private estate manager, is certified by the NY State of Health for potable water treatment. The couple reside in Greenport with their daughter Margaret, who loves mermaids.

All members of the amazing team at GNS/Mermaid and Harry Goldman, including John Scarramucci and his wife Cissy who managed the company for so many years, including through this recent pandemic, remain a valued part of the company.
